In her paper, Marissa shows that glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by brain tumor–initiating cells (BTICs) that communicate via extracellular vesicles (EVs). Using TurboID, she achieved the first unbiased global labeling of EV proteins in patient-derived BTICs, enabling proteomic analysis of diverse EV cargo and advancing understanding of GBM communication, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
